Pet Stains

Pet urine deposited on any carpet does not stay there. It penetrates its fibres and contaminates both the flooring material below the carpet and the backing of the carpet. Mostly, pets urinate continually on carpets at the same location.

In most instances, pet stains and odours can be professionally removed using a specialized surface treatment, steam cleaning and deodorizing.  If you see it happen, blot the area with paper towels or you may even be able to use a wet/dry vac to extract the urine and then gently blot with a damp clean cloth, followed by a clean dry cloth or old towel to remove most of the urine.  You will still need a professional carpet cleaner to follow up with a urine treatment to kill bacteria and remove odour, but by removing most of the urine you will help prevent stains.

Did you know?

Urine odours can permeate the floor, whether cement or wood, from the tack strip, and even from the framework of the house behind the walls.

When urine dries into crystals, it becomes more concentrated and the odour pungent.
